8th Annual Wine and Walleye Festival
Hosted by the Lift Bridge Community Association along with coordination by the City of Ashtabula, the 8th Annual Wine and Walleye Festival will be alive and well again on Bridge Street in the Historic Ashtabula Harbor this July 28th thru July 30th. Be sure to mark your calendars for 2017 as the festival has been moved up to the month of July with hopes of great weather, summer vacation schedules, and an all new fireworks celebration scheduled for Saturday evening following the lighted boat parade.
Live music and entertainment, lighthouse, river, and sunset boat tours, as well as a Saturday morning sailboat regatta are included in the new lineup of festivities for 2017. The festival will continue to offer the Wine Garden Event Tent providing some of the best local and regional wines from several wineries found throughout the Grand River Valley.
In addition to wine tasting activities and in coordination with all 6 of the Bridge Street restaurants, special pairing dinners will be offered to meet your appetite and tasteful palates all weekend long.
CRAFT BEER TENT – New for 2017 is the Craft Beer Tent providing patrons the option to quench their thirst for great tasting ales and IPAs. The craft beer craze continues to grow and the festival feels it will make a fantastic alternative for non-wine drinkers. The Beer Tent will be open on Friday, July 28 from 4pm to midnight with music. On Saturday, July 29, we are open from 1pm to midnight, with the band High Horse playing rock covers from 7pm to 1am. On Sunday, July 30, the Beer Tent is open from 1pm to the close of the festival. The Craft Beer Tent is located between Grindhouse Burgers and the Transient Dock, with prime seating for the lighted boat parade and fireworks on Saturday night. Proceeds benefit the Ashtabula Rotary Foundation’s local scholarship, youth and outreach programs.
Fishing Tournament Notice – The largest change to the 2017 festival is the absence of the walleye fishing tournament. At this time, the festival will be foregoing the tournament until further notice. The Lift Bridge Community Association will be working hard to bring the tournament back to the festival in future years. For now, if you are seeking the walleye tournament, contact the Greater Ashtabula Chamber for further details on their walleye tournament expected in August.
Bridge Street will be closed to traffic throughout the weekend.
We are all excited for a great group of musicians and hope you will plan your entire day with us!
No festival is complete without music! Knowing this, the Wine and Walleye Festival organizers have worked hard to line up an amazing group of performers for the weekend. The list of musicians that we have selected is a mix of nationally and internationally touring, signed artists, and local favorites with local flavor.
